A little trip down memory lane…..
A short while ago exactly 4 fridays, a month, I jet off to bangkok with the grp mates of 3.1 namely dearest ah cher, bizhi, amanda, meizhu, nicky & teh susuhong!! Ccnclusion was that I never shop so much for my entire life. I went with 2bags, came back with 7. Bought a gazillion tops, shirts, accessories!! We did not visit many scenic spots which I though was a pity but I guess somehow, the shopping seems to satisfy it all. I came back Singapore literally broke from shopping and the other expenses incurred for the dramatic loss of my passport.
Oh well, one of the nice parts of the entire trip I though was visiting the night market and chinatown. Even though it feels like shopping again, but I get to see a night life in bangkok which was so lively and cheerful. We also visit some temple cause the day happen to coincide with some important buddhist festival (which I had no idea also) where they will pray and walk around the temple. Interesting, should go research on it. The flower market as well. I was enveloped entirely within flowers and more flowers. The prices are so cheap that it makes me feel so cheated of $$$ when I buy roses in singapore. People pay a dollar for one stalk here in sg. InBkk, people pay that for a bouquet. Not forgetting food, phadthai, dim sum, sausages, pork balls, sweetcorn, a&ws, auntine annes,!!!
I guess what I have brought back from that country is not purely just shopping items but a learning experience. Getting stucked in an airport, self independence, the art of bargaining, country culture, looking at so many ah kuas and friendship. Reading the news about the red army in bangkok is kinda sad. Spilling blood that can save a thousands. The people I have met over there referring to the locals are so pure and simple minded. Super Friendly as well if they give me discount for my items. Thankful for thousand four, snap a gazilliion photos for memory keepsake. I am still a newbie in terms of photography, I haven even get my editing software. Oh well, learning in progress. I am on my way to fulfilling my life long dream of travelling around the world to take photographs. Thats what I love about travelling I guess. I always bring back something along. It makes me feel globalized, global citizen.
Thankful for the 7 of them, for 6+1 days of Bangkok!!
Hearing my TPSD mates going to taiwan, I cannot help but feel for excited for them. Wish that I could join them but I believe there will be other opportunities. Where should I travel next. Who shall I travel with next. Cambodia?? Hong Kong?? Oh wells, I have a target!! Within the next 5 years, travel to japan to meet sensei, and backpack europe with thousandfour. Anybody joining my loft target??
